Partnership with Local Power to deploy Solar+Storage
Suntech Power Development America (STPDAM) is partnering with Massachusetts-based Local Power LLC, a leader in U.S. based community energy strategy and implementation, to develop innovative solar microgrids in U.S. cities and towns.
In order to serve with municipal authorities known as Community Choice Aggregation(CCAs), Local Power will lead renewable energy microgrid development for STPDAM in the urban core of cities, on brownfield sites, and on the distribution side of substation.
STPDAM will provide development funding and the capacity to design, build and operate solar-plus-storage microgrids in partnerships with CCAs as a way to build local public and private sector energy resiliency, and to assist in local area decarbonization.
Local Power works with leading municipalities and private sector innovators in the renewable microgrid resilience space. STPDAM is a global leader in solar photovoltaics, microgrids and solar-plus-storage technologies. The CCA market could eventually expand up to half of the annual electricity demand in the U.S., with one in ten Americans already served by CCAs in 1,500 U.S. municipalities. Local Power played a pivotal role in creating CCAs, and in guiding their focus towards renewable distributed energy resources that enhance resilience and demonstrate cost effective decarbonization pathways.
Suntech Power Development America (STPDAM) serves Community Choice Aggregators (CCAs) by deploying locally generated solar energy with storage to create cleaner and more resilient communities.
Sunnyvale, California-based STPDAM is a fully vertically integrated Independent Power Producer (IPP), and a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Suntech Power Japan Group that has over 2GW of solar power plants operating globally. STPDAM has plans to deploy 500MWP in North America in the next five years.
